Hollywood Stars Condemn ICE After Minneapolis, Minnesota Shootings

(MENAFN) A number of Hollywood actors and musicians have criticized US immigration enforcement authorities in response to two deadly shootings in Minneapolis, Minnesota, sparking widespread outrage over the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown.

The incidents involved the deaths of Renee Nicole Macklin Good, a mother of three, and Alex Jeffrey Pretti, an ICU nurse, who were fatally shot in separate encounters with federal agents earlier this month. Good was killed on January 7 near a protest site, while Pretti was shot less than three weeks later while documenting ICE operations.

The US Department of Homeland Security has claimed both individuals posed a threat to agents, though politicians and civil rights groups have questioned these accounts, citing video evidence from the scenes.

Actor Pedro Pascal criticized ICE on Instagram, posting multiple messages questioning official explanations of the shootings. Singer Billie Eilish also weighed in on social media, condemning the silence of public figures and calling Pretti “a real American hero.” Pop star Katy Perry encouraged her followers to contact US senators to oppose additional ICE funding, providing call scripts and contact details.

Actor Jamie Lee Curtis shared artwork honoring both victims, while Mark Ruffalo described Pretti’s death as a “cold blooded murder in the streets of the USA by an occupying military gang.” Singer Olivia Rodrigo expressed solidarity with Minnesota, calling ICE’s actions “unconscionable” and urging the public to engage on the issue.

At the Sundance Film Festival in Utah, actors including Olivia Wilde and Natalie Portman also spoke out, calling for accountability in Pretti’s shooting and demanding justice.
