Congress Overturns Improper Minnesota Land Withdrawal

The National Mining Association (NMA) applauds the Senate passage of legislation championed by Rep. Pete Stauber to reverse a Biden era withdrawal of more than 225,000 acres of mineral rich land from development, issuing the following statement from Rich Nolan, NMA president and CEO:

“The reversal of this improper land withdrawal, which obstructed mining on more than 225,000 acres of mineral rich land, is a win for U.S. mineral, supply chain and national security at a time when domestic strength is of the utmost importance.  This action is about embracing American potential; the potential to responsibly source from within our own borders the copper, nickel, cobalt and more, that we must have for everything from defense equipment and weaponry to advanced technologies. We applaud Rep. Stauber’s leadership and work to restore jobs to Minnesota and supply chain security to our country.”
